THE SERPENT PROPHESY - HAL'S EGYPTIAN RESONANCE

En route, HAL had created a DNA profile from the Moon mission, using the ARK database. When Storm touches the central console, the ship’s AI system in the Swann III begins to sync with the alien architecture, and the DNA of the mummy. 

"It seems," said HAL, this mummy is effectively the key to the ancient system, and the transition to Pyramid Building. "Listen to me John, Lena and Captain Li. Djoser, in the Third Dynasty, built the Step Pyramid at Saqqara. I think he was the first to fully decode the “Serpent Path” teachings left by Djet and his wife. 

"Go on," John urged. Cleopatra continued, "Imhotep, his architect. You may have heard of him, was a genius who combined human engineering with alien geometry."

"Yes," said Dan, "the high priest in 'The Mummy' film with Brendan Fraser." Cleopatra looked mystified. "We'll show you that movie on return to Earth," smiled John.

"Okay, looking forward to that, but I should mention Khufu, the pharaoh from the Fourth Dynasty." 

"He built the Great Pyramid at Giza," came in Doctor Hadid. Cleopatra nodded, her audience was taking note. "Khufu’s architects perfected the alien-inspired design, creating a structure that was not just a tomb but a cosmic transmitter—a beacon linking Earth to Mars and beyond."

"How might you deduce that, Miss Cleopatra?" Asked HAL. "Ah, I was coming to that HAL. let's look at the scan of the tablet in Djet's tomb. If you could bring that up, please?"

HAL complied. The crew looked on mystified, while Cleopatra deciphered the hieroglyphs, as a prophesy:

"I am Hor-Djet, the Serpent of Horus.
Through me the path of the stars is revealed.

From Narmer, who bound the Two Lands,
to Djer, who opened the gates of trade,
to Merneith, who guarded the secret flame,
to Den, who crowned the union of heaven and earth—
the lineage flows as the Nile itself.

I was taken beyond the sky,
my body carried to the Red Planet,
to await the awakening of the Serpent Path.

Know this:
The tombs of Abydos are but shadows,
steps upon the ladder of eternity.
Stone shall rise in stages,
and the House of Eternity shall be built in light.

When the time of Djoser comes,
the first mountain of stone shall touch the heavens.
When the time of Khufu comes,
the Great Pyramid shall blaze as a beacon,
its angles aligned with Orion,
its heart resonant with the stars.

The Serpent coils from earth to sky,
binding mortal kings to immortal gods.
Follow the Serpent Path,
and the secret of the pyramids shall be revealed."

The holographic projection of the tablet shimmered above the central console of the Swann III. The light, a sickly Martian red filtered through the structure’s ancient crystalline ceiling, gave the hieroglyphs an unsettling life. The air in the Red Genesis command module was thick with a silence more profound than the vacuum outside.

Cleopatra finished her final summary, her voice smooth but edged with triumphant certainty. “The prophecy explicitly names Narmer, Djer, Merneith, Den, Djoser, and Khufu—tying Djet’s vision to the progression of pyramid building.”

Dan Hawk, stood slack-jawed. He looked less like an academic and more like a tourist who'd just watched a statue wink.

“I… I’m sorry,” Dan stammered, rubbing his eyes, as if clearing his vision would scrub the impossible words from the air. “You’re telling me that a pharaoh, who lived three thousand years before the Great Pyramid was finished, left a message on Mars that predicted the reigns of Djoser and Khufu? Phrased as a commission for future alien-guided construction?”

John Storm leaned a forearm on the console, his gaze flicking between the projected tablet and the unnerving calm of the Nile Queen. “You are saying the aliens predicted Khufu would come to pass.”

“No, John,” Cleopatra corrected, a faint smile playing on her lips. “The aliens are saying it. Not me.”

“How is that possible?” Dan’s question hung heavy, sounding less like a scientist asking for data and more like a man appealing to the laws of physics.

Cleopatra simply offered a queenly shrug. “That, I cannot say.”

John looked at the two silent anchors of his mission. “Any ideas, HAL, Lena?”

Lena Hadid, the mission’s chief science officer, remained rigid, her expression one of disciplined shock. She was running diagnostics on the DNA match, trying to find a fault, a data corruption, anything to dismiss the impossible antiquity of the mummy. Her voice was low, strained with disbelief.

“The DNA match is holding, John. It’s a 99.9% match to the predictive model HAL generated. And that model… that model was based on an unclassified marker found in trace amounts in the deep ice core samples we brought from Earth. A marker that, until now, we dismissed as random geological noise. We just confirmed it: the Martian mummy is Djet.”

HAL’s synthetic voice finally cut through the tension, devoid of emotion, but vibrating with a new, unsettling authority.

“Query: Chronological Paradox. The historical records of the Egyptian Old Kingdom confirm the sequence of construction and alignment described in the text.

Djoser’s Step Pyramid (Third Dynasty, c. 2670 BC) was the first major stone structure.

Khufu’s Great Pyramid (Fourth Dynasty, c. 2560 BC) achieved the precise astronomical alignment with Orion and the near-perfect geometric design.

The time span between Djet’s reign and Khufu’s pyramid is approximately 420 years.

The probability of an unguided prophecy detailing this specific engineering progression is zero.”

Captain Li, quiet until now, finally spoke, his focus locked on the cryptic final lines: “Follow the Serpent Path, and the secret of the pyramids shall be revealed.”

“Captain Li?” John prompted.

“The problem isn't the prophecy itself, John. The problem is the architecture of intent,” Li said, tapping a finger on the Martian crystalline wall beside him. “The structure Djet is in, the entire base—it’s not a tomb. It’s an instruction manual. The pyramid builders on Earth didn't ‘evolve’ their technology; they escalated their technology according to this extraterrestrial plan.”

John felt a cold wave of realization wash over him. "You’re saying the ancient Egyptians were running a development timeline for an alien civilization. Their pharaohs weren't just building tombs; they were building communication beacons."

Cleopatra nodded slowly, running a manicured finger over the coiled serpent symbol that Djet shared with the Egyptian goddess Wadjet. “The serpent coils from Earth to sky. Wadjet was the protector of the king. But here, the Serpent Path is a cosmic code. A sequence of steps—from the shadows of Abydos to the light of Giza—designed to reach this very point in space.”

She stepped back, her eyes alight with the magnitude of their discovery. “Djet wasn’t merely buried on Mars. He was preserved as a cosmic witness, his DNA the key, his life an initial condition for an experiment in divine kingship that was meant to span galaxies. The Egyptian Old Kingdom was not just a great civilisation; it was the Martian Relay Station One.”

Dan sank onto a seat, his disbelief giving way to a raw, breathless awe. “My God. The history books… they’re going to need a very big update.”

John Storm looked from the ancient mummy on the slab to the vast, red, alien structure around them. He placed his hand on the smooth central console again. The Swann III AI didn't just synchronize with the architecture; it was fulfilling its purpose.

"HAL," John commanded, his voice firm, ready to embrace the impossible. "Begin analysis of the Step Pyramid and the Great Pyramid based on this data. Correlate their geometric angles with the Red Genesis' launch trajectory and the current orbital alignment of Mars. Show us the Serpent Path."

The central console glowed, and the Martian base, quiet for millennia, began to hum with dormant power. The stairway to Djoser, Imhotep, and Khufu was finally being trod again, not by priests or kings, but by a crew of astronauts, thousands of years and millions of miles from the banks of the Nile.
